COVID-19 Information for 2023-24
SRVUSD remains committed to ensuring that health and safety are a priority. The district will continue to follow, but not exceed, all guidelines set forth by Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). We appreciate our partnership with CCHS which will continue to serve as our support system for all COVID-related matters.
Guidance
Specific information for SRVUSD students can be found in the COVID-19 Guidelines for Students and Staff 2023-24. This information in this guide is based on CDPH's K-12 Guidance for the 2023-24 School Year.
Vaccinations
State and county health officials strongly recommend that students and staff get vaccinated against COVID-19 and remain up-to-date to protect themselves from a serious illness.
Air Quality
SRVUSD will continue to optimize HVAC units to bring fresh air into spaces. The district uses MERV-13 air filters which filter out both viruses. Setting filtration systems on recirculate protects the air in our facilities.
Cleaning
SRVUSD will continue to follow the CDPH guidance that states, "Routine cleaning is enough to sufficiently remove the virus that causes COVID-19 from surfaces."
Face Masks
Masking is not required at school. All students and staff are welcome to wear a mask if they choose to do so. Per CDPH masking guidance, infected persons should wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially in indoor settings. Additional COVID and Masking information here.
Testing
At-home tests can be used for all testing scenarios. Testing options within Contra Costa County here.
Reporting Positive Cases
Health and safety remain a top priority for our district. As such, we ask that parents/caregivers continue to report all positive student cases to your school office. All cases will be tracked and reported as per CDPH requirements.
SRVUSD meets but does not exceed state and county requirements as it pertains to COVID-19. In May 2023 the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), removed the requirment for a school community COVID reporting Dashboard. Therefore, as of June 2, 2023, SRVUSD will no longer have a COVID dashboard.
Managing Positive Cases
Stay home for at least 5 days after the start of symptoms (Day 0) or after the date of first positive test (Day 0) if no symptoms). Follow the CDPH guidance for returning to school. Table 1: Persons Who Should Isolate
Student Exposure Notifications
Per current CDPH guidelines, student exposure notification letters will not be sent to families.
Volunteers
Volunteers are no longer required to upload their proof of vaccination to Be A Mentor or to provide a negative test result to the school office.
Independent Study for COVID-19
School sites will no longer initiate contracts for students with COVID-19. A contract can be requested by the parent/caregiver for COVID-19 or any other illness, by contacting the school office.
