Assessment and Accountability
The use of standards and benchmarks coupled with meaningful assessments help drive the instruction and achievement of our students in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

All of our schools participate in the State Testing and Assessment program (STAR) and the scores continue to reflect high achievement. The STAR program consists of the California Content Standards Test and the CAT-6 Standardized Test, both assessments taken by students in grades 2-11.

Other state assessments such as the Golden State Exams (grades 8-12) and the California High School Exit Exam (HSEE-grade 10) help us monitor our students' progress as they complete standards-based courses.

Along with state mandated assessments, San Ramon Valley Unified School District uses important K-3 literacy assessments, implements a K-12 Fall/Spring Write Assessment program where every student writes to a district wide prompt twice a year, and has developed certain end of course exams in mathematics to help increase consistency across the district in our standards-based math courses.

Classroom assessments drive instructional decisions on an on-going basis while the statewide assessments give us an indication of annual progress in many areas.
