Google Classroom for Teaching and Learning

For the 2024/2025 school year, SRVUSD has transitioned to using Google Classroom as the primary platform for teaching and learning. Schoology will no longer be used. Google Classroom integrates easily with other Google tools and offers a user-friendly, intuitive interface. This change will enhance the overall experience for students, teachers, and parents/guardians. To learn more about Google Classroom instructional features, check out all the recent updates made to improve instruction.

Parent/Guardian Access to Google Classroom:

8/14 in the Morning: Parents/Guardians in a Google Classroom before this school year, received an email notification to be removed as a guardian. This is a step that IT is taking to clean up archived data and ensure that only current designated parents/guardians have access to their students. The student will also receive a notification of the removal. No action needs to be taken.

8/14 in the Afternoon: All parents/caregivers currently designated as guardians in Infinite Campus received an email invitation with “Join Google Classroom as a guardian…” in the subject line along with your student’s name. Parents/Guardians click ‘Accept’ within each email received to activate weekly summaries and to be able to view your student’s upcoming and missing assignments, as well as class announcements. Please note:

Once the invitation is accepted, both parent/guardian and student will receive a confirmation email.
Parents/Guardians will receive one email for each enrolled student and need to accept each one individually.
If parents/guardians do not see the email, check spam/bulk folders or do an email search for the words in the subject line: “Join Google Classroom as a guardian”
If parents/guardians still cannot find the email, please submit a ticket for IT support.
No Google Account Required: You do not need a Google account to receive these emails.
Infinite Campus: You will still use Infinite Campus to access real-time information about your student’s grades, attendance records, and progress reports.

Important Need to Know Information

There is no login for Google Classroom. Once the email is accepted, then the parent/guardian may receive email summaries.
Summaries are weekly emails - For Google Account users there is an option to change notifications to daily summaries.
If the parent/guardian receives the join code, then that is in error. This occurs because the user is signed in to multiple accounts in their browser. It is recommended that the user log out of the multiple accounts in their web browser before accepting the invitation.
On Monday, August 19 - IT will will send another invitation to the email on file in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

Student Access to Learning Applications in Classlink

SRVUSD uses ClassLink as a portal for all instructional tools. Students log in to CLassLink with their SRVUSD account to access major learning applications.

Students access their Google Classroom by logging in to ClassLink.
Students access Infinite Campus by logging in to ClassLink.

Access and bookmark the web page: classlink.srvusd.net
Click on “Sign in with Microsoft” and then enter the SRVUSD email address and password.
