Partnership with Chefs Brigaid
We are transitioning our menu to more scratch cooked meals which feature fresh ingredients and limit the use of processed foods as well as foods containing preservatives or additives. In this endeavor, we have partnered with Brigaid, a company that pairs professional chefs with institutional food service programs. Since January 2022, a full-time Brigaid chef has been working within the Child Nutrition Department to deepen the culinary skills of staff members and expand menu offerings. Together, we’ve introduced several new items, including chicken alfredo, broccoli with garlic confit, BBQ chicken with cornbread, lasagna, and chicken curry. All of these items are compliant with USDA nutritional standards and aimed at increasing student satisfaction. Looking ahead, we are excited to continue developing new recipes, increasing the capacity of our talented staff, and providing our students with wholesome, nourishing food to fuel their days. Partnership with Eat REAL Certification Program
We are partnering with Eat REAL to measure our full nutrition program against a set of evidence-based standards and celebrate our successes. By becoming certified, we will support meaningful changes in the interest of our students' health and reduce our environmental impact. Participating in the process will help us to redefine in our community what school food is and give us a structured way to measure and talk about our values. Find out more here.
