Securly
We’re pleased to let you know that our district uses Securly to help us strengthen online student safety and to monitor emails and online documents for harmful sentiments like grief, self-harm, and bullying. We chose Securly because of their focus on developing technologies to help K-12 schools support student safety, wellness, and engagement, as well as their commitment to student privacy. Securly maintains strict adherence to data privacy and management regulations, and their solutions have earned SOC 2 Type 2 certification for data security, availability, processing, integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
Securly Classroom is a cloud based classroom management tool for Chrome books, giving teachers the freedom to guide, monitor, and communicate with students during class.
Securly Aware
Securly Aware is an AI-driven assistant that scans Gmail, and Google Drive/Docs for language and content that matches sentiments of grief, self harm, violence, bullying, and profanity. This system alerts administration to potentially serious situations so that staff can intervene before things get worse.
Securly On Call
Securly On Call is Securly’s team of safety specialists working with K-12’s leading AI tool to analyze flagged activity notifications 24/7. A thorough risk assessment of student activity is performed, identifying concerning trends and patterns. When urgent intervention is needed, the On Call Team acts fast to notify the school.
Appropriate online use is a partnership between the students, the school, home, and the district. There are some preventative measures that have been put into place and that are intended to proactively support student online use and wellness. These include:
- Acceptable Use Policy - Each student signs the AUP at the beginning of the school year. Although the policy is shared and signed at the beginning of the school year, reviewing the guidelines with students and families can always help when student behavior needs to be addressed.
- Securly - Teachers can use Securly classroom to monitor student use during class time. Administrators have access to monitor student use through the Securly dashboard. A combination of AI and trained specialists are monitoring student use 24/7.
- Cyber Safety Events: We have partnered with the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office and the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to provide education for the community. This event was co-hosted by the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs and SRVUSD, and if you missed it, you can watch the event recording here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xzTxU_H-9Q.
