Instructional Materials
Middle School
During the 2022-2023 school year, SRVUSD commenced a middle school History/Social Studies instructional materials pilot. Dozens of teachers from our eight middle schools participated in the pilot, reviewing several programs and meeting regularly to debrief and, ultimately, select a program for adoption. During the 2023-2024 school year, teachers recommended the Cengage National Geographic program for adoption, which was approved by the SRVUSD Board of Education. Following the adoption, all social studies teachers received several days of professional development pertaining to the effective implementation of the Cengage program, and the full implementation of Cengage is underway.
