Letter to the Community from Superintendent CJ Cammack

Oct. 23, 2025

Dear Staff, Parents/Caregivers, and Community Members,

I am writing to address recent news reports regarding the presence of immigration officials in the greater Bay Area. We understand that such reports can cause concern and anxiety among our students, staff, and families, and we want to reaffirm our core commitment: our district remains focused on providing a safe, welcoming, and secure educational environment for all students.

In the event that immigration officials are present at our school sites, we will provide timely and accurate information to our community and staff.

The district’s protocols, aligned with legal provisions regarding any interaction with immigration enforcement, are outlined below:
  • Policies and procedures: SRVUSD has established clear policies and procedures detailing how any school-based interactions with immigration officials are to be handled. These protocols are designed to protect the integrity of our educational setting and ensure the safety and privacy of our students, and comply with relevant legal provisions. Like all members of the public, immigration officials can enter the public office space of a school. However, they are not permitted to access campus beyond that point without a valid and specific judicial warrant.
  • Student information: SRVUSD does not retain or collect any information regarding a student's immigration status. We enroll students based on residency, not immigration status, in compliance with federal and state law that guarantees all children the right to a K-12 public education.

The trust between our schools and our community is paramount. Our commitment is to every student’s well-being and academic success, regardless of their background or circumstance.

We thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us maintain a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone in our district.

Sincerely,
CJ Cammack
Superintendent
